Report on 7th CME program of GOSB held on 15th Feb 2020 at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College, Barisal
7th CME program was held on Ovarian, Endometrial and Cervical Cancer at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital on 15th Feb 2020. Participants were doctors of obstetrics and Gynaecology department, administrative personals, doctors of radiotherapy department, doctors of other related departments, internee doctors, 5th year students of that Medical College. The meeting was presided over by the principal Barisal Medical College, Dr. Syed Maksumul Haque. Thirteen Gynaecological Oncologists of Gynaecological Oncology Society of Bangladesh from Dhaka headed by Prof. T A Chowdhury attended the program.
There were 4 topics on Ovarian Cancer, one topic on Endometrial Cancer and 2 topics on Cervical Cancer. For each presentation, the allocated time was 15 minutes. There were two scientific sessions. In the session -I presentations was on Ovarian Cancer. The first presentation was on “Pathology, Staging, Workup and Management of Epithelial Ovarian Cancer (EOC)” and it was presented by Dr. S.M Shahida, Gynaecological Oncologist of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Second presentation was on “General Principles of Management of EOC” and it was presented by Prof. Shahana Pervin of NICRH. Third presentation was on “General principles of Management of Non-epithelial Ovarian Cancer (MOGCT)” and it was presented by Prof. Sabera Khatun, Secretary General of GOSB and Founder Chairman of the Department of Gynae Oncology of BSMMU. The fourth presentation was on “Adjuvant therapy for Malignant Ovarian Tumor (MOT)”, done by Dr. AFM Kamal uddin, Radiation Oncologist of Dhaka ENT institute.
In the Scientific session II, There were 3 presentations. The first one was on “Approach to the management of Endometrial cancer” and it was presented by Prof. Farhat Hossain, Head of the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Sir Sallimullah Medical College Hospital.Second Presentation was on “Clinical Diagnosis and Essential Primary Investigations of Cervical Cancer” which was presented by Prof. Nazma Haque, Professor of Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital. The last presentation was on “Update on management of Cervical Cancer”
presentated by Prof. Jannatul Ferdous of the department of Gynaecological Oncoloy of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
The presentations were followed by panel discussion which was moderated by Prof. Shahana Pervin. In the panel discussion an unusual case of Cervical Cancer was presented and questions were asked to the panelists. The panelists were -

A CME Program on update in Gestational Trophoblastic Disease (GTD) and Endometrial Cancer was held in the Milon hall of BSMMU on 7th October, 2019 organized by Gynaecological Oncology Society of Bangladesh (GOSB).About 232 participants were present in the program.
The inaugural session was chaired by Prof. T A Chowdhury, President of GOSB. The program started with recitation from Holy Quran. Welcome address was delivered by Professor Rawshan Ara Begum, Senior Vice president of GOSB. Then speech by Secretary general of GOSB was delivered by Prof. Sabera Khatun. Prof. M A Hai president of Oncology club delivered his speech as special guest . Prof. Kanak Kanti Barua, Honorable Vice Chancellor of BSMMU graced the occasion as Chief Guest of the inaugural session.The session ended by deliberation of vote of thanks by Dr. Khoorsheed Jahan Moula, President elect,GOSB.
The inaugural session was followed by a very successful scientific session. Different aspects of Update in Gestational Trophoblastic Disease (GTD) and Endometrial Cancer were presented by both foreign faculty and local faculty.
Scientific session-1 was on Update in Gestational Trophoblastic Disease (GTD)
Dr. Farhana Tarannum Khan, Consultant,NICRH presented “Genetic basis of GTD”. Prof. Nilufar Sultana, DMCH, Presented “Pathological basis of GTD” .Dr. Farhana Khatun, Assistant Professor, BSMMU presented “State of the ART of PSTT and ETT.Dr. Bhagyalaxmi Nayek, Asso. Professor,AH Regional Cancer Center, presented “Presentation, management of molar pregnancy and concept of low risk GTD”.Then ”State of the art of intermediate,high and ultra hight risk GTD” was presented by Prof. Sabera Khatun, Secretary General of GOSB. “Role and responsibility of general gynaecologists in initial management of GTD” was presented by Prof. T A Chowdhury,President of GOSB.
Scientific session-2 was on Update in Endometrial Cancer
Prof. Nazma Haque, Treasurer of GOSB presented a “Changing trend in epidemiology and risk factors of Endometrial Cancer”. Prof. Farhat Hossain, Vice President of GOSB presented “Fertility sparing management of Endometrial Cancer”, Dr. Anne Katherin Goodman presented “Histology based-management of Endometrial Cancer”. Then “Primary surgery for Endometrial Cancer-how extensive it should be?” presented by Dr. Roma Joshi, Director, Fortis Memorial Research Institute. “Follow-up treatment of Endometrial Cancer after primary surgery” presented by Prof. Sarwar Alam, Chairman, Dept. of Clinical Oncology, BSMMU.
At the end of the scientific presentation, Open discussion was held. Several questions & answers on different issues were discussed by foreign faculties. Finally Brand presentation of ACI pharmaceutical ltd. was presented by Mohammad Asaduzzaman, Divisional Marketing Manager.
The seminar was very successful by the active participation of the audiences
